What do you think of this rug?

I have a very serious question for you. I was in John Lewis this morning, ostensibly to buy a new blind for the bathroom, when I caught sight of a spotty rug and kind of impulse bought it. ( It was on offer and I couldn't resist it!) The thing is, do you think it's grown up enough for the sitting room or is it more suited to a bedroom - or even a child's room? I can't decide, mainly because I am blinded by my love of spots, but I need to make up my mind so that if it's going back I can get it packed up before the children roll round on it with jammy fingers. (Although if it's not right for the sitting room I might keep it anyway for our bedroom when it's finally revamped...!) I have just rushed home with it in the back of the car and flung it onto the floor for a look before nursery pick-up time.. you know how it is!

All opinions gratefully received. (And thank you for all the lovely comments on my last post, which always make my day!)

7pm update - My husband really likes it so it looks like we're keeping it. I'm amazed but very pleased!

If you love it, keep it. You'll find a place for it.

George I really love it (but also have a complete obsession with spotty things) I sort of know what you mean though about is it grown up enough but I would keep it anyway !!! and plus you have more house style in your little finger than i have in my whole body so maybe not the best person to give you an opinion :-S bet it would look lovely in yours/son's bedroom as well so plenty of options! plus has hubby seen it yet??? he may help the decision making process........
love all the new cushions by the way

Phew - back from the school run! Thanks for opinions- LOL at you obsessing Lesley - just like me! Your house is v. stylish so I do very much value your opinion!

Hubby hasn't seen it yet but I think he's going to say it's too girly for the sitting room; hope he'll agree to keep it anyway. It would be lovely for Anna's room or ours. It's so lovely having a comfy rug with a pile - makes me think I'm going to have to get a slightly more grown up one anyway. The one we have down there at the moment is a sort of flat weave Laura Ashley one I bought for my second flat back in 1998 and it's showing its age a bit - plus not v comfy for the kids to roll about on!

I love this rug as well, and had been stalking it for a while, but it is sold out on the website!! Might have to take a trip to JL to have a look. I think it will work anywhere, esp as your room is quite neutral. Keep it!

I'm 39 and married with two children aged seven and four. I'm fatally attracted to house renovation projects, and this is our third in the last seven years, my personal fifth since I bought my first flat in 1996. I think we might have bitten off more than we can chew with the Worst House.
