more of the kitchen

A few people have asked to see more of the kitchen extension.I'm embarrassed to say that it looks v minimalist from the outside but the inside is a bit of a scooter/dolls pram park, with a great big shelf unit full of toys, games and unidentifiable bits of plastic that might once have been a Power Ranger. However it's a family house and that's what we designed it for so look away now John Pawson...

From the outside, at night - often the only chance I get to take photos without a 2 year old grabbing the phone...The glass roof means we are successfully growing an orange tree and some basil! The kids tend to eat and draw/paint/throw playdough around at the small table by the window or perched up at the counter. We have most of our family meals there too, unless we have guests, when it's easier to use the bigger table in the dining room, which the kitchen opens into at the other end.

The 'functional' bit of the kitchen with my beloved twin corian sinks. When you've washed up in an avocado vanity unit for six months you develop an unnatural passion for your shiny new sinks. Or maybe that's just me...

Hi Georgie- I love what you are doing to the house. I can only imagine how hard it is doing all the work with a family. My husband and I are about to start on an open kitchen/dining room and have been looking at corian worktops. Can I ask where you sourced yours from? Please keep up with the photo updates, can't wait to see the finished product. Maraka

Hi Maraka - glad you like the house! I'm afraid my Mac has just given up the ghost ( posting briefly from a friend's PC!) so can't access my bookmarks, including the corian suppliers, or post properly til we get a new one. I will post the details as soon as I can!

Hi Georgie

Am researching for building work in my own home and came across your great blog. It's an inspiration to someone like me who's never done a major job before. The whole house looks lovely and I particularly like what you've done with your kitchen. Do you mind me asking where the units came from?

Thanks very much Pilar

Thanks Pilar - good luck with your project! The kitchen was from Roundhouse Design (http://www.roundhousedesign.com/) They have showrooms in Richmond, Fulham and Islington and a couple of other places - but all in London I think.

Thanks for this Georgie. It's funny, only last week I happened to pass their Islington showroom and thought what lovely kitchens! I shall definitely be looking into them further.
